We had our reception at Sails on the Bay in Elwood — right on the beach. Gorgeous venue, especially during daylight savings time when guests can see the sun set in the background while eating dinner. We got so many comments about how lovely our reception was.

I highly recommend Sails on the Bay. You will not have one demer if you choose this venue. The setting is obviously second to none, but the staff and the food backs it up all the way! The Event Co-Ordinators were fabulous - nothing was too much trouble and you can trust them with everything!

Highly Recommended as a Wedding Venue!
We recently got married at Sails On The Bay a couple of months ago, and it was by far the best decision we made in our choice of wedding venue. We had always wanted an outdoor wedding, by the beach, but was certainly not brave enough to take on Melbourne's erratic weather! Sails On The Bay was the perfect choice, as it is situated right on the forefront of Elwood Beach, with stunning floor to ceiling windows overlooking the horizon, and white sails adorning the ceiling. We had the best of both worlds - Still the view we longed for right on the beachfront, but also the comfort of not having messy hair from the sea breeze, or sand in our shoes! The whole venue also was gorgeous in itself - so we didn't have to do much to enhance the venue. We also loved that the decor of the venue had neutral colours, hence it was a very versatile venue to work with for any theme or colour we had in mind. Sails On The Bay, is a restaurant renowned for their exquisite food, and the food certainly did not disappoint. We received so many compliments from friends and family on the day, that they had been to many weddings before, but our wedding luncheon, definitely came tops, food wise. Jamie (my husband)'s cousin, who is a chef by profession, even complimented that the food at our wedding, was certainly one of the best he's ever tasted at a wedding reception - and that is huge compliment coming from him! All the staff were incredibly warm and friendly, and service was top notch. They made all our guests feel special, and at home. One of the things I especially loved about Sails On The Bay, is that they were extremely flexible and accommodating to our needs. Derek and Monica, the owners of the restaurant, are an absolute delight to work with. They understand that every couple is different, and shared our passion and desire in wanting to help us achieve the wedding of our dreams, by tailoring the package to suit us. For example, the standard package included a three course sit down meal - but instead of having a sit down dessert, I worked with the pastry chef to design a white themed dessert buffet (as white was the theme of our wedding), as I wanted the guests to mingle around after the entrees and mains. To Derek and Monica Fuller, you guys have been a joy to work with. Thank you for allowing me to run with my big crazy ideas; for being so accommodating when I'd rock up at lunch time with my measuring tape; for granting us full access to the venue the day before the wedding to prepare for the big day; for allowing me to balance off tables and chairs to hang the white lanterns; for working with me on the white themed dessert buffet, and for everything you've done to make the wedding a success. The day ran without a glitch thanks to you guys and your fantastic team at Sails On The Bay. I would not hesitate recommending this venue, to any future brides!

Undoubtedly Melbournes best Wedding Venue After seeing many venues the combination of spectacular views at sunset, fantastic photos on the beach and a sophisticated stylish venue with great food was better than I had hoped. The staff are super friendly and for what you get Sails is really good value. Many venues I saw were a plain and lacked the WOW factor. If you want to impress your guests and treat yourself to something proud to remember I would recommend this..and why wouldnt you for the biggest day of your life!!
